ENVIRONMENTAL BENEFITS & IMPACT

A smaller footprint for a greener planet.

Divvali LED's are the most environmentally friendly form of lighting available. Minimal energy consumption by our LED's will yield reductions in greenhouse gas emissions from power plants – and the mines and drills needed to fuel them. Furthermore, using fewer bulbs (you'd buy over 30 incandescents during the lifespan of a single Divvali LED) results in fewer resources used for manufacturing, packaging, transporting, distributing and stocking.

The safest form of lighting.

Divvali LED's carry exceptional safety and health benefits, as they do not contain any hazardous chemicals or gases. On the other hand, compact fluorescents contain mercury and can cause serious health problems if broken or disposed of incorrectly. Incandescent and halogen bulbs produce ultra-violet (UV) radiation which can damage human eyes and skin cells after prolonged exposure.

More light, less heat.

LED bulbs convert over 95% of their energy input to light, while only 5% is wasted as heat. At the other end of the spectrum, traditional bulbs dissipate nearly 95% of their energy as heat! Other types of lights, such as halogen, produce even more heat than an incandescent bulb and can result in severe burns if improperly handled.

Fluorescent lighting: contamination & health issues.

Fluorescent lamps and CFL's contain mercury, a contaminant that can affect an entire area if released. Due to the poisonous nature of the contents of these bulbs, their disposal is limited to specific centres that deal with hazardous materials. This is the only responsible method of disposing these bulbs and adds to their cost. Additionally, the flicker of fluorescent lights which is not visible to the naked eye can cause headaches and eyestrain.
